MY CORSET PHOTOSHOOT

My corset that I styled and photographed myself, with my friend Rachel modelling :)

I styled the corset with an old mosquito net that I burnt,
ripped and hand stitched in place to give different layers.

TAPING - CORSETS - SESSION 3

I realise I haven't posted in a little while so thought I'd update you on my technical session!

In the last session I learnt how to add shape to the corset by "padding" out the areas I wished.
Here's a few pics showing how I've done this on the stand.

TAPING - CORSETS - SESSION 2

The second technical session has been and gone and I decided to experiment one last time.
After getting the shape I wanted, I started to lift the pattern straight off the mannequin.
Pics below! :)

Here is the corset shape that I'm going to take a pattern from. I like
the symmetry on the front and think that its quite eye catching.

To get the pattern off the mannequin I've draped and pinned some material and then draw around the underlying shape. I'll then add seam allowance and notches to each pattern piece before sewing them together.

TAPING - CORSETS - SESSION 1

In my technical sessions at college we are currently working on a corset project. The idea is to use the method 'taping' and then take inspiration from Miss Havisham to create a decayed looking corset.

Here are just some practice pieces that I did to try and get used to the idea of taping.
