PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION - RED RIDING HOOD

I've been searching for a while now for a photoshoot location for my final major project.
I've finally come across this old disused saw mill in Osmaston Park, Osmaston.
It's also surrounded by beautiful woodlands which would also be great
to do the photoshoot in.

Here are a few photos of the location, the photoshoot will be commencing
in a couple of weeks time!

OUTFIT 2 (FUR JACKET) - RED RIDING HOOD

An image of my fur jacket pattern pieces on the fabric.
Then below is a front and back view of the fur jacket
(which is unfinished at this stage)

This fur is difficult to work with as it gets everywhere and it's thick to cut!
It's good quality and is giving me the perfect look to my jacket.
I brought it from www.fauxthrow.com

OUTFIT 1 (DRESS BODICE) - RED RIDING HOOD

Below image is of my pattern pieces for the bodice of my dress (outfit 1)
layed out onto a heavyweight red wool fabric.
Below image is of the front view of the bodice of the dress.
It still has a lot of work to be done to it, this is just an update to show you how
I'm getting on with everything!

PROMO & MARKETING - RED RIDING HOOD

As part of my promotion and marketing unit, I had to create some business
cards to promote myself and my final major project.
The best way for me to do this was to do two quick sketches of my two outfits
and put them on the business card itself.

Below is an image of the two quick sketches.
Below is an image of the wolf sketch and stages at which I was drawing it.
Below is an image of two different business cards (front and back view) that I created.
I liked both so decided to use both of them.

MOOD BOARD - RED RIDING HOOD

This is my mood board for Red Riding Hood.
I've included two images that refer to the folklore of the tale to show where the beginning of my inspiration came from - the same with the wolves. There is also material and make-up ideas. The leaves in the right hand corner refer to autumn/winter because I feel this is the perfect season for Red Riding Hood seen as its based in a woods. Woods look more scary and evil in this weather and it will help to interpret my designs.

FABRICS - RED RIDING HOOD

I was just browsing through my pics on my laptop and found these snaps of
fabrics that I may consider for my negotiated project of Red Riding Hood.
I came across these whilst on a visit to Manchester.
I am not definate on these materials, it's just abit of inspiration!

I also managed to gather samples of velvet and lace for my sketch book!

RED COLOUR BOARD - RED RIDING HOOD

As my theme for my NP is Red Riding Hood, an obvious colour for me to use in my designs would be red. Here is a colour mood board on red that I have created as part of my research.

I'm aiming to make my project edgy yet elegant. I want my garments to be harsh but floaty. I think the mood board is giving a sense of softness with the velvet material and roses, but it also seems very hard and mysterious with the blood and woodland area.

FAUX FUR

For my negotiated project in my final year at college I have decided to go along with the theme of Red Riding Hood. Every version of the tale includes the big bad wolf so I feel I need to include an aspect of the wolf within my collection. This has led me on the hunt for some really good quality faux fur!

Finally I have come across http://www.fauxthrow.com/! There are many faux fur selections available, from ready made throws, clothing, gifts and fabric by the metre. The throw company give you the opportunity to order swatches of the fabric, so I ordered 6 swatches of faux fur that was either wolf or looked wolfy!

My swatches were delivered to me a few days later and I am very impressed with the quality of each one.
Here are some pics of my swatches!
