TURNING JAPANESE - GARMENT & ILLUSTRATION - 2010

Here is my garment that I created for my first college fashion project 'Turning Japanese'.
The previous blog explains the inspiration and base of this project.

My fashion illustration for this garment was inspired by Petra Dufkova and Katharine Asher.
Here are my research boards based on these two illustrators.

& here is my fashion illustration!
I used red and black ink to indicate the colour of my garment and let it run off the page because I was inspired by my research to do this; I felt it fit well with my project too.

TURNING JAPANESE - FUTURE BEAUTY EXHIBITION - 2010

My first college fashion project was called 'Turning Japanese'.
The research for my project was based around an exhibition I visited in London called "Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion". The exhibit, which was held at The Barbican, included the likes of Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe and Koji Tatsuno. We weren't allowed to take pictures in the exhibition as to not damage the clothing but I've managed to come across some snaps!

I came across a blog for this exhibition which contains a few more pics if you'd like to have a look then just follow the link - Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion
